East Conference AME Ministers Alliance, Inc.:
- Hold Out the Lifeline's Project Moses is an iniative of the AME Ministers Alliance, which creates beautiful basinets that are given to families in need.
- Body & Soul is a faith-based partnership to improve the nutrition and physical activity in African Americans, especially women. Overweight and obesity have a significant impact on the health and well-being of the women in Jacksonville.
The Azalea Project is a targeted Healthy Start program that provides intensive case management and support to substance-affected families. The program serves pregnant women and teens in a high-risk community of Jacksonville. For more information, please contact Faye Johnson 359.2520.

The Magnolia Project is a special federal Healthy Start initiative that addresses high rates of infant mortality in Duval County's black community. The unique program focuses on improving the health of mothers prior to and between pregnancies. The Male Responsibility Initiative (MRI) is a response to the recognition of the importance of men in ensuring a healthy birth outcome and a successful childhood. This initiative strives to bring into conversation the male figure in each child’s life. A pivotal component of the Male Responsibility Initiative is in the Boot Camp for New Dads program. This nationally acclaimed research based program has been brought to UF&Shands Hospital in Jacksonville through the funding and coordination of the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition. This three hour workshop taking place every second Saturday of the month allows veteran dads to ‘show the ropes’ to new dads and dads-to-be. Project Impact is a fetal and infant mortality review (FIMR) project for Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns Counties. Its goal is to reduce infant mortality by gathering and reviewing detailed information to gain a better understanding of fetal and infant deaths in Northeast Florida. The project examines cases with the worst outcomes to identify gaps in
maternal and infant services and to promote future improvements. For more information, please call 723.5422.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related deaths are a leading cause of post-neonatal mortality in Duval County and northeast Florida. Inappropriate bedding, not on back to sleep, and not in an infant bed were among the top risk factors associated with these deaths. Comprehensive awareness and informational campaigns have been credited with changing behavior and reducing sleep-related deaths.
